my sister Elizabeth -
- made my favorite cookies - her recipe for oatmeal with cranberries and walnuts
- loved holding Vera and talked to her with the sweetest, most gentle voice i've ever heard
- was my maid of honor, and I was supposed to be hers someday
- was the most sensitive person
- loved going thrifting together
- couldn't hear out of one ear
- would have taken care of every animal in St. Louis if she could have
- was my first roommate, as a child, and then again when I moved out of the house after high school
- had a tattoo of paw prints on her back
- tried learning to knit with me. we were both awful at it.
- went to speech therapy as a child for her "s" sound, and so did I
- ate small meals. she always got full fast
- was a very talented writer and loved to express herself through poetry
- loved to sing, especially Mariah Carey, and Celine Dion at one point
- was generous
- wanted everyone to be happy all the time
- believed that people should treat others as they would like to be treated
- got really mad at drivers on their cell phones
- wanted to be a yoga instructor for a while
- liked the color lavendar
- looked good in blue
- had soft hair
- loved the beach and was such a good swimmer. she actually stopped me from drowning twice.
- gave me coupons for free babysitting and cleaning when Vera was born, and had signed up to bring us a meal this week. she was going to make us veggie lasagna.
- loved her boyfriend Tony
- played with her nieces and nephews with lots of energy and love
